![]() ![]() ![]() | The Bailen Heath Sciences Simulation Learning Center at Spalding University is a multi-purpose space used to educate nursing students. Within the Bailen Center, graduate and undergraduate students learn skills and competencies in a safe learning environment. Learned and mastered skills can then be transferred to real-life healthcare clinical experiences. This allows faculty to teach and prepare students to become safe nursing professionals and ensure students can apply knowledge learned in the classroom to a practical experience. The Bailen Center is part of the School of Nursing, located in the Republic Bank Academic Center. It features multiple simulation rooms with mid- to high- fidelity patient simulators in various simulation spaces (high-acuity, pediatric, obstetric, etc). While the Bailen Center is primarily used by nursing students, other health sciences programs, such as Occupational Therapy, Athletic Training, and Physical Therapy have begun to utilize the space. Students in these programs can utilize the Bailen Center resources in their training and we are now training all healthcare sciences in interprofessional education. The equipment used in the Bailen Center requires regular maintenance, and with technological advances, some of our equipment software can no longer be updated. In order to continue to serve students and provide optimal delivery of healthcare simulation experiences, significant updates are required. Spalding’s School of Nursing is raising money to purchase new simulation patients (manikins), upgrade outdated equipment, and complete general maintenance of our facility. For Annual Giving Day 2024, we humbly ask for your support in ensuring we continue to provide excellent simulation experiences to our students! Thank you! One Day. One Goal. One SU!!!
